Service: Performance and reliability issues - Server Migration
Situation
Ponte-Comm were suffering from severe performance and reliability issues and causing interruptions in their business workflow.
What we did
After investigation of Ponte-Comm’s computer infrastructure, Protec instigated a migration project from an inadequate Novell Netware server to Windows 2003 Small Business Server with sufficient capacity to allow for the projected growth.
We also migrated the email system from POP3 mailboxes hosted on the internet to local mailboxes stored in Microsoft Exchange 2003 on the Small Business Server.
The server was also equipped with a higher capacity DDS tape drive to allow fast daily backups covering file, emails and the server configuration using Backup Exec.
Result
Uptime and reliability has increased 10 fold and Ponte-Comm are naturally very pleased. They now operate from a solid IT foundation which allows a tighter and more reliable base for communication and storage.
